Vietnam food and big hair

This is weiyu.

And she had her hair permed.

This is me.

As you can see from this picture, I have highlighted my hair.

Oh no u cant, its in black and white.

We went to a vietnam restaurant. And this is drip coffee. It literally drips into the cup. For some reason, that makes the coffee taste amazing.

Sis looks better after using my My beauty diary mask. Lately, I'm into this series of mask. Look out for a radiant me these months until i get sick of it.

Us in the vietnam restaurant, Sharing our devotions and our testimonys of God's miracles in our lives.

Sis is gonna give another testimony tonight at church and i can't wait!

Dim sum buffet

HI.

I had dim sum buffet at Zhou's kitchen for only 13.80+

I could have taken more pictures... but i was too lazy.

I forgot what this is but this is very good!

This is prawn paste chicken. Ive been eating this since i was a kid.

Wasabi mayo dumpling!

Of course, its the company that matters most. I organised this for my dear nursing peeps.

Its a great place for a gathering at such a cheap price.

At night, we went to receive sis from her Mission trip in Indonesia. She looks tired.

But she had alot of fun.

... as you can tell.

Strictly Pancakes

At Strictly Pancakes cafe, we came... supposedly for a weekend breakfast which ended up being a weekend Brunch because we did not make any reservations and it was just too popular, even at that time of the day for pancakes. It was noon time, at about 1pm.

Thus, we had to wait for one hour. And where else better than Rochor Road Tau Huay Stall which was just down the road. We delighted ourselves meanwhile with some very refreshing treats and had this:

Cold Tau Huay.

And we had surprisingly amazing butterfly fritters. Sweet, crispy, and chunky. Hmm. I never used to like this when i was younger because i had eaten bad, lau feng ones. But this was really good.

Weiyu eating heartily.

Finally we got our long awaited table at Strictly Pancakes. Please learn from this very tough lesson and make reservations before visiting popular cafes.

Nutella Milkshake. Drink it and get yourself an orgasm.

Every pancake comes with a piece of butter of a flavor of your choice and maple syrup. My favorite two flavors are garlic-herb butter, and Rum and raisin butter (good for dessert pancakes).

We shared smoked salmon with pancakes. Looks abit dry here but they have a bowl of mayonnaise with herb to accompany this. It is very good, according to everyone else. Me, the biggest salmon fan, unfortunately did not think it was that fantastic.

THIS IS THE BEST! I will visit the place again for this amazing Garlic-Herb Butter prawns with pancakes. The prawns are fresh, crispy, and (relatively) big. It goes surprisingly well with the pancakes. You get an explosion of crisps, sweetness, buttery and salty taste in your mouth with this dish. Suddenly I think I sound like I am writing a food blog here.

For dessert pancakes, THIS IS pretty WONDERFUL. Its very chocolatey. Its named The Drug for a reason. I will come back for this for high tea!

Then we had fun playing at the lounge area where there were comfy sofas.

Best friends forever :D

Check out my hot new buy

A hot Guess wallet.

Be very jealous. I know you are.

Holidays

MY attachment has ended!

That long-awaited end to the arduous journey is finally here!!!

Holidays has only just started this week and already I had some of the best moments in my life.

PROM on Monday!

its my first prom btw. A lil too old for prom so we called it dinner and dance.

Next up:

My batam trip with the nursing girls!!!

Im feelin all nostalgic already!

The best part about the trip was honestly the girl's company and the hotel stay. We behaved like 3 year old kids.

It was cheap, and amazingly grand and beautiful. PLUS, we seem to be the only ones in the hotel so we had everythingggg to ourselves. including the amazing buffet breakfast.

We drank ice wine and hung out at the rooftop poolside to star gaze... and played in the gym with our pyjamas.

Im feeling nostalgic already!!!

And i bought this beautiful blueee dressss... from the hotel for only 13 sing dollars.

okay things there are not as cheap as ud expect.

I MISS the girls! WHAT a wonderful start to my holiday!!!

My body has physical limitations when it comes to night shift.

At 4 am, i had an insatiable urge to vomit. And had gastric pains, and i was feeling sleepy and zoning out. It was dangerous giving medications at that time.

I am effin tired now but i cant sleep because its morning.

I will survive the next two days!

I am not a failure

I will not let their demoralizing judgments get me down.

This is not a nightmare. It is a learning journey.

I have a choice to create my desired reality.

Where this is a will, there will be a way.

Work blues

After work today, i finally got the time to breathe. At least there is no work tomorrow.

These days, I worked as if I have no soul, as if I had lost all personality and sense of self. I come home to do my reports and memorised hospital protocols in fear.... But still it is in vain, I am scolded like a dog everyday. I live in fear everyday. There is so much to know and so much to get adjusted to. And then I find myself going back to square one because the other nurses shake their heads at me for being inefficient, given that I do not have much clinical experience as compared to the ITE or Poly students.

I memorise and memorise, i grow weary, and she never fails to remind me how lousy I am. She'd repeat it everyday, and she wont let me do anything, because, I am too lousy. My fear and lack of confidence has caused me a brain block. I know my stuff, i just find it hard to apply it in practise. I worked without a break today, I stood and ran around for hours on end, from 6 am to 4 pm, with no breakfast or lunch, and a terrible headache. I got scolded again... I never got the chance to remove drains i told her, but i wanted to try. I was scolded again for not having done it. Everything was blamed on the individual. I did not learn these stuff, i learnt theoretical stuff that were seemingly irrelevant to the line of work, I memorise and ace in those stuff, but cannot apply it in practise. I just don't know why. They blame me for being lazy. But I've been trying hard to learn everyday. I study like a dog in school, I am not a lazy student. But I am such a doomed failure and an embrassment.

Someone asked me a question this morning, which has been posed to me for the upteenth time, "Why?... Why nursing?" She says... I have no choice but to be in nursing because i cannot apply for other courses in my diploma. But you had the choice, so why? I looked at her and didnt reply. I didnt know what to answer. I wanted to say passion. But i realized that passion cannot get you far, I may have been too idealistic. Why? Why did i choose this and work like a dog. All my theoretical work, all my hardwork at studying, where have they gone? I find myself not applying most of what I worked so hard for. Why am I doing this, be scolded everyday, and looked down upon ...

when all i ever wanted from this profession was an opportunity to care for others...

Amidst a busy afternooon today, I saw one of my NUS lecturers from a distance, she'd come to visit us. She came to me to talk, and asked if I was doing okay... we took a walk.. I've kept quiet and have been living in a world of discouragement, fear and hard work for this past week. Only to feel worse each day. I work with another NUS student in this place, and we experience the same problems. So when finally someone expressed concern, I broke down. Suddenly I am reminded of my all-too-idealistic hopes of providing care to the ill and needy. I am not lazy and I genuinely care for my patients. I never meant harm when I came into this profession, but I feel horrible... by all the judgment, scoldings and sometimes second class treatment.

When work finally ended this afternoon, i took some time to acknowledge my feelings and reflect upon the past week. A flashback reminded me of what I had said during my interview into the NUS nursing course where it all started. Prof Watson asked a very odd question,

"What is your greatest fear about the future?"

I thought hard... before giving an honest reply, "It is...to give up on a dream...".

------------------------------------

And I realize that I cannot give up. No matter what. I have to brave this storm. My God will be with me. When I study for my exams, I will tear down whatever obstacle that come my way. This period of clinical attachment will not be an exception. Afterall, being a nurse is God's gift and blessing to me.

I will continue to work hard and stay strong.. wherever that takes me.

Dry your tears and walk on.

my troubles

I really hate giving injections. Cos im afraid to inflict pain. And it makes me very upset. But i have to be less sensitive to this.. because sometimes, pain is necessary for a better outcome.

Rainbows after the rain

COLOURS! XIAO LONG BAO!
its good that i get rainbow xiao long baos after a very long time of being deprived of good food. Be jealous! you know you should.

And i had 4 longs of it. No wonder an ol' guy friend i met up with last night told me im alot fatter these days. He wasn't joking. I stared hard to observe his non-verbal cues, hoping to spot a hint of cheekyness, but no. He was serious.

Fats hidden behind a wall of XIAO LONG BAOs.

Us savouring.

This guy is damn cool.

Some day, i want to grow up to be just like him.

My Groceries

I bought a beautiful basket, and a bunch of pink roses to accompany it.

And a colorful top, which grass thinks is the ugliest top in the world. Sis thinks otherwise.

I think I have great taste.

Don't you think so too?

Loraine's Birthday & Last day of School

The nursing girls had a brithday celebration for Beloved Loraine.

It was really intimate :)
I'll cherish the memories we've had studying in NUS. These girls are one of the nicest, most caring, loveliest girls ive ever studied with. <3>

It was our batch's last day of school just last week, after our major practical exam, OSCE.

Being in NUS nursing has changed me in so many ways. Even though some of us will be staying on for Honours years while others graduate as nurses (finally)... i dont think we'll ever forget the company we've had and the support we've given each other through the past 3 years.
